This blog is written for three constituencies and organized as such. Rather than write a hundred e-mails every month to family, friends, and co-workers, this blog allows an opportunity for anyone to catch up on Mel and Hien’s activities in Vietnam and focus on categories of interest to these constituencies.
See my About page for the reasons Mel and Hien will be relocating to Vietnam. We expect to arrive there at the beginning of October after a couple of weeks in China.
Co-workers from my old firm, KMD, and other architect friends may want to focus their attention on the Development and Architecture categories as well as the Vietnam category.
My religious life remains very important to me and many of my friends will come to this blog from that constituency. In leaving San Francisco, I gave up presidency of my Lutheran congregation as well as Board leadership of the related non-profit social services agency San Francisco Lutheran Nehemiah Project. These friends may want to track my continuing spiritual life in the Religion category as well as the Vietnam category.
Most of my extended family lives in Montana or other northern states, and wonder why I would ever want to return to Vietnam if the government is not sending me there. I hope that the Vietnam category will let them know that Hien and I will be having a wonderful time, and we want them to see the wonderful culture we will be enjoying (particularly the food).
Additional categories will be added as the need arises, starting with this post in the category Identity.
