For my architect friends......
Coming out of the Shenzhen airport a few days ago, I couldn't help but notice a huge (and I mean really huge) billboard featuring architect Richard Meier's portrait and what appeared to be an announcement for a lecture he must he having there on 9/29. Everything else was in Chinese characters and I wasn't able to react fast enough to get either my wife's translation or a picture. I guess Mr. Meier is a star architect in China as well as elsewhere. Maybe he has a commission in Shenzhen, too -- Shenzhen needs a substantial upgrade in architectural quality.
For my non-architect friends, if you have been to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, he is the architect.
