After arriving in Hanoi on the afternoon of 30 September, we spent the next day walking about the Old Quarter absorbing the overall impact of the life of the city. On the next day, we rented a motor bike (over my reasonable objections, of course) and toured the other parts of the city to get an overall impression. We quickly got used to the motor bike and it turned out to be good way to see much larger parts of the city quickly.
For the past two days, we took a tour bus to Halong Bay (a World Heritage Site) to tour the bay by boat and stay overnight on the boat. For these next two days, we will continue touring Hanoi to make sure we might want to live here eventually. So far so good.
On 7 October, we will leave by bus to Hue where we will stay for a couple days, Hoi An for two days, Nha Trang for two days, and Dalat for a day or two. That will leave a week to see Ho Chi Minh City.
