Here is my wife Hiền's first blog posting (remarkable because she usually does not like to write or express any enthusiasm), so here goes -- for her friends:
Hi, to all my friends,
We have finally settled in Ho Chi Minh City. We have rented a small 3 stories with a roof terrace home in the alley, very noisy, but this is life in Asia. No actually residential area, there are always business everywhere, uncountable motobikes zooming evey directions and everywhere. One thing that really bothers me is there are no walkway for pedestrians, all the sidewalkw are extension of business, shops, restaurants, motorbikes. Pedestrians have to walk like a snake, and a lot of time have to walk in a crouch and into streets.
There are good and fun side of the life here, especially to me, because things are cheap here (I mean local stuff). and back to the familiar culture that I deserted 33 years ago. I am still learning through everyday life, ploughing through streets, afterall, it's a developing country, things change faster than you can catch up.
I bet you all will love the food here, everything is so fresh and lively here, so no more frozen food for us. we eat a freshly-killed fish every other day.
